How to Use Fulton County GIS

Step One:

First you want to locate your subject property.  You can do this several ways but the best way is to either search on the address or tax id number here

Or you can zoom in and find the site here

Step Two:

After you have found the property you are looking for you then want to add layers to the map to see the features you want.  Click the image below to see how to add parcel dimensions:

Then after hitting refresh you will be able to see the new layers added in.  In this case Parcel Dimensions are displayed along with how wide the right of way is of public streets (which is handy when calculating FAR ratios in the City of Atlanta).

Knowing how to use the various GIS sites and the features hidden in plain eye site is crucial these days in real estate.  As more and more counties and city governments add GIS data to their websites, an ever increasing amount of insight can be gained by using these systems.

Fulton county, Gwinnett, and Cobb GIS systems all have the ability to click on a parcel and show who the owner is.  Seems simple, and it is, but figuring out how is another story.  In fact we will have to write about that sometime soon.

Good luck! and email us if you have any questions!
