Well….. We blew it!

I am sad to report that the building permit has been issued for construction of a concrete plant located at 418 Armour drive. I tried hard to raise awareness with ALL of the city employees and people involved in the Beltline. They failed to take notice of this important piece or for some reason ignored it. Nothing was done and they have no one to blame but themselves.

Please see my coverage of this story on my old Blog.

It is quite interesting that citizens got in such an uproar over the recent concrete plant approved for Lambert Drive and this plant went right under the radar. The Lambert piece was completely unimportant in the larger context of the future of our city. The development of the Armour Drive piece however will prove to be a huge hurdle for the city to overcome in the near future.

I am somewhat disheartened at this point so that is all for now.

    Giles,
The site really looks great. What an asset to builders. Listen, i’m hearing great things about the research you’ve been doin for “that other real estate company”. Let me know what it’s gonna take to bring you on board.

It doesn’t make any sense for the city to approve this. From the maps, it looks like this is within the Beltline TAD. Not sure how a concrete plant fits in with the vision. I guess they are trying to get more taxes from the property, but your plans to go ahead and redevelop it make a lot more sense.
