Downtown areas across the country are experiencing a renaissance in growth and interest, sparking new construction of all types and causing developers to take a new look at urban development markets. Perhaps no other downtown has heated up like Atlanta’s Downtown market, as witnessed by the number of construction sites currently underway as well as projects in the works.
Metro Atlanta continues to experience a boom in the construction of single family homes, condominiums, office towers, loft apartments, and commercial space. However, until recently this growth has largely skipped over the Downtown area. With this boom comes questions about what is driving new development, why are developers suddenly more willing to locate projects in the Downtown area, can the rate and types of development be sustained, and what will be the impact of all this new development on the affordability and quality of life for current residents and businesses. A panel of experts involved in Downtown’s development will share their thoughts and experiences on why this resurgence is taking place and what the future may hold for Downtown Atlanta.
